About A sulpher butterfly in my front yard. These usually don't sit still long enough for me to photograph, but I lucked out with this one. Even though his head is covered by the bloom, I really liked this one because of the shadows on the wings.

The shadow created on the wings is amazing and the way you handle the BW tones is really something to envy

Oh yeah - those shadows are great! Beautiful, soft tones in this one, too. Is that a 'powder-puff' flower? Delicate bright pink puff flowers?

beautiful light and shadow, Laurie
and I LOVE the tones

Dirck,
You have a good eye. That is a powerpuff. We have a bunch planted by our front door and they grow like crazy. They really seem to be drawing a lot of butterflies this year. It's great because all I have to do is walk out the front door and there's usually something to photograph. It's the lazy persons approach to photography. :)

Laurie this is wonderful, I like the shadows and then the reverse of the shadows in the plant itself, if that makes any sense at all..nice angle in your composition and tones...nice work...Linda

A very lucky shot indeed, Laurie, and the use of the sepia tones have really made it extra special. Excellent. Cheers, Ann.
