About Newport, Rhode Island Sound

1/1000th
f/8
ISO-100

Here we have 12M US-16 Columbia and 12M US-19 Nefertiti.

A big day - 3 CF cards and 4 rolls of Velvia, the best day I've had for sailing photography. These world class 12M boats have come from all over the globe to race in Rhode Island sound for the last week. It would probably take years to get as many shots of these 12M boats as I got in about 3 hours.

One of the best things about this type of shoot is that you can instantly change the type of shot from a close-up detail crew pic, to a wide angle scenic shot in a matter of seconds.

Big thanks to the New York Yacht Club and Chris Museler for this opportunity.

Fantastic sea scape, very well composed and great tones.

Not quite sure what to make about the "cut-off" mast of the boat in the foreground.

Regards,
Ciprian

Amazing image Chris... as if it was a painting.
Excellent work,
Khaled.

I agree Ciprian, these boats are just SO massive, that most of the time you can't fit them all in one frame. Alot of the shots I got are tighter than this, only showing about the bottom 1/3rd of the sails.

Cheers,
Chris

Nice shot, you can smell the salt. Any chance we can see some of the Velvia scans?

Chris Hunter   {K:25631} 9/19/2005
Mos. def. Huw, this just took place yesterday, Sept. 18, so I haven't had a chance to drop off the film to be developed yet. I would say the scans will be done later this week, I'll keep you posted,

Cheers,
Chris
