good grief girl! where can i get me some eyelashes like that?!
;D

Giulio Rotelli   {K:28429} 9/21/2005
Assolutamente perfetta. Delle tre è la migliore, gli occhi catturano completamente l'attenzione, grazie anche alla precisione dei dettagli, sembrabo quasi scavarti a fondo nell'anima.
Un grandissimo ritratto, da BIP

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 9/21/2005

this is a really amazing shot. I love the reflection in your eyes. Can your skin be anymore perfect!

Paul Lara   {K:86864} 9/24/2005
This seems a little over-exposed (though I'm viewing this on my laptop on the road, so I could be wrong).

I really LIKE the catch-light created by your hands in front of the window. Coool.

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 9/24/2005
Thanks for commenting, Paul. It MAY be your monitor... although I notice with my mom's camera that I can take the same shot in front of the same window in an "auto" mode and his it come out much lighter than when I take it in macro mode... which I prefer because I want MORE detail! LOL Anyhoo... it doesn't look overexposed on my monitor, but it does look ligher than some of the other shots I took. You have such an eye for detail!

Roberto Arcari Farinetti   {K:192005} 9/26/2005

Louise Vessey   {K:13859} 9/30/2005
WOW Melanie...you have to have one of the most symmetrical faces I've ever seen. Gorgeous! Make up looks stunning. Now for comparison you should do a 'before' with no make up at all!! :-)

Hi Melanie,

Beautiful composition, and excellent colours! Very well done. While I can see why some may prefer the reflections in your eyes, I personally would suggest trying this shot again but using a softbox to see if you would prefer the difference. Likewise with the background. You have a lighter area to the right of the picture. Try removing this to see if maybe it make the picture even more striking. And very striking it is already ) I hope you don't mind the suggestions. Love the shot!

Shane

Trish McCoy   {K:15897} 9/30/2005
wow what an incredible image. very strong and piercing eyes. congrats on being featured donor today. awesome!!!!!

Ron Wilson   {K:18170} 9/30/2005
Excellent portrait. I see from your portfolio that you make a wonderful subject. Well done. I can't think of a better reason to get into photography than to take pictures of your children. Enjoy.

Mort Gage   {K:2747} 9/30/2005
this image explodes off the home page! congrats and nice work.

Mark Evans   {K:17326} 9/30/2005
This is excellent melanie 7+++ .. marky .

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 9/30/2005
Shane, I DO appreciate your advice, but I do not have any sort of equipment to work with ( I actually don't even have a camera right now! LOL Mine is broke and every once in a while I am lucky enough to use my mom's camera. Hopefully one day all of that will change and I will be able to experiment more. Thanks for your comment )

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 9/30/2005
That's a thought, Louisse! I may have to try that.

Funny because I always thought my face was no so symmetrical... maybe I am just a little hard on myself??? LOL

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 9/30/2005
Cristina, you are the second person to ask me that lately! LOL No, I don't wear them. I think all the blue in the portrait really brings my eyes out )

Rosario Esposito   {K:9796} 9/30/2005
All much beautiful, the colors of the eyes, the light, but above all the girl.
-Rosario-

Shane Finnigan   {K:1990} 9/30/2005
Hi Melanie,

Well if you?re using borrowed equipment and producing this level of quality, that is a testament to your skills! WOW!!! Half the battle is training the eye to ?see? a shot, and you?ve got that nailed perfectly. Very much impressed!

Very best regards,
Shane

alexander garcia castro   {K:7062} 9/30/2005
well may not be technocally challenging but is any way very interesting, very nice composition, beautiful look.

Sally A.   {K:4574} 10/1/2005

Francesco Claudio Cipolletta   {K:2641} 10/2/2005

The best of your last shots, obviously great model and perfect lighting. Compliments ;)

Kes     {K:19761} 10/2/2005
Hi Melanie, I just finished looking at some of your self-portraits (at least I think they are self-portraits) and I was going to ask if they were shot hand-held. However, the catchlights in your (?) eyes in this shot seem to answer that question.

Do you have a tripod? I only ask because of the distortion we get by shooting too close can be overcome by simply moving off a bit and using a bigger lens, as I'm sure you know.

And this of course is an execellent portrait! Wonderful skin! Nice window light (right?). Very nice detail/sharpness within the DOF. I like the point of view that you have chosen.

Lucas L   {K:11978} 10/4/2005
quite impressive ...
this photo reminds me a song that is passing all the time in portuguese radios ..."You?re beautiful", by James Blum (not sure about the name)....

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 10/9/2005
Kes, thank you for your thoughtful comment.

Here's the thing... LOL.... I broke MY camera, which is not THAT GREAT of a camera (Canon Powershot A-80), so with that I am used to having to be RIGHT UP ON IT to get any kind of detail. Now, I am only lucky to be able to use my mom's camera once in a while, which is much nicer. Only, I am not used to her lense which give the distortion when too close. I do have a tripod, but I don't think it was meant for her camera because her camera tends to weigh it down, which makes it difficult.

On another note, yes, you are right.... I always use window light. I HATE a flash and I have no equipment, so it is my only choice!

Hopefully someday SOON I will have all my own equipment!!!! Until then it is all trial and error! LOL )

George Tam   {K:416} 11/13/2005
Enough of the compliments. I just want to know if Melanie would marry me! Kidding aside, I want to say congratulations on a gorgeous image.
