About Slight desaturation.

Wish the wind wasn't blowing so hard. Would have been nicer if those curls were still.

Thoughts on crop?

Rina     {K:26519} 10/3/2005
Cheers Kathy! I wondered if I'd taken too much from the top. Wanted a tight shot of those curls on her face.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Maybe a square crop would work as well!?!
Looking good!

Lovely portrait, Rina...the crop is perfect. The desaturation also works; adds a lovely soft look. Beautifully done.

Rina     {K:26519} 10/4/2005
Thanks Jude!

A lot of the comments I read on other portrait shots, seem to indicate a big no-no on chopping off the top of the head!!! But in this instance, it just felt right...

Cheers!

Rina     {K:26519} 10/4/2005
Thanks Eleisa!

Hey, congrats on making the front page twice!!! Way to go!

Cheers

ciao rina...
una foto che mi lascia un grande senso e sentimento dentro..
il taglio inclnato aumenta l'effetto del pensiero e del "riccio" (curly)...
una modella molto brava e bella..
alla prossima

dear Rina
although you post a great nice portrait
whic i found it didnt need a crop
but i found that you want to cropp it ( ur words tell that )
any way, i posted here my crop
may be u see it and know how much ur crop gives a compelete view of the cadre
and shows the perfect DoF
well done
and i love that the wind blow and give that sense

Mohamed Banna   {K:34222} 1/19/2006
sorry
here it is

crop

Rina     {K:26519} 1/20/2006
Mohamed, I hadn't considered cropping that close. I like what you've done a great deal. From the beginning, I had felt there was something not quite right but now it makes perfect sense. It's very striking, thank you for taking the time to show me your idea. I'm honoured and very appreciative.

Rina :)

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 3/7/2006
Rina,
It seems everyone is concentrating on the crop. I suppose because you asked for thoughts on it. I would like to comment on the nice job you did on the desat... and also say that I think it's fine with the wind blowing the curl, for a little motion blur.
I think the crop is fine as well in this case because of the tilt of the face.
Andre

Roger Skinner   {K:63313} 3/9/2006
yeah nice quiet self observation.. the movement doesnt worry me

Paul Lara   {K:80147} 3/20/2006
I like this crop, as it puts the bright earring at that third.

John Segon-Fisher   {K:2580} 6/2/2006
Good portrait Rina - as for thge crop it works very well. What bothers me is, that as a close up, it could have been a lot sharper (say a wider aperture). But still, it has a nice sensitive feel to it.

Rina     {K:26519} 6/2/2006
Yeah, about the only thing in focus is the earring! Can't believe how much I've learned since taking this shot. I leave it up because I think it's good for me to go back over my mistakes. I can look at this now, and totally see where I've gone wrong and what's more, I know not to do it again! Thanks for swinging by John, your comment is much appreciated. Cheers!
