About Couldn't resist making the pub stand out on this one!

this is the famous Robin Hood's Bay just south of Whitby on the north yorks coast.

The pub itself is cosy and has a couple of decent beers in there, though I think there are better ones in the town - none look this good or have ht view over the sea.

If you were ever in doubt over the power of shooting in RAW, look below at the actual shot and what you can do with a RAW editor to chance the feel of a shot.

Wor was you were in Cyprus when all the time you were swigging in Robin Hoods Bay.
This is a classic shot from the bay Ade and the placement of that reflection is genius. Fantastic comparison with the before and after conversion pics. Gotta try shooting Raw more often.

what an excellent CS work

Cheers Den, I DID get more decent shots yesterday than the whold cyprus trip!!!!

I think it's a mood thing - if you're in clicking mood, you see things more clearly and are mentally composing things as you walk along... in cyprus I was looking for paracetamol and ant acids most the time!!! darn lager never agreed with me!

RAW is the best way forward - gives you at least 10* more power when you get home. You can change the colour and levels without any loss in quality. JPG usually starts to get grainy when you do that.

Worth an experiment - try shooting the same shots in both modes for one day then compare the results. Need a tripod of course :-)

An extraordinary transformation, Ade! Great PS work.
I need to get back into RAW, but it annoys me that I can't run a simple slide show of RAW images in PS CS!!
Best regards, Chris

that is annoying, but Microsoft are on the case for theuir next release of Windows.

you can view RAW in a slideshow using

IrfanView

it's a free download, you just get the mina program and a plugin for your camera's RAW format, and you can view them happily enough. That's how I do it.

I like this kind of photos, a bit darker, darker that most of people here would accept. Perfect for National Geographic magazine.
