About In case it's not obvious, through my rear-view mirror. When I'm at the point of leaving a place that held beauty and meaning for me, I get choked up a bit and look back - hence this title. I so much look forward to going back to Lancaster County.

What a wonderful final chapter in this series. I hope you get to go back again someday too. It's obvious that you very much enjoyed being there and photographing this community. A very unique "The End". Well done.

NIKON D70 = amazing. I like your pictures... amish and all.

Anthony Lound   {K:6586} 10/7/2005
Thank you very much for your perceptive, sensitive, and most of all, HUMAN, comments on this series Susie. I sense we are at one on many things :) Kind regards, Ant

Yea, i was thinking about that. I just don't have CS on my comp yet, and the raw files won't open without it. And to tell you the truth i like to find as much perfection in the natural image as possible. But eventually i will get around to PSing it out. hehe.. eventually.

Anthony Lound   {K:6586} 10/7/2005
Lindsay, I DO know what you mean. Here's my take on it in a post to a very good friend and photographer on here:

This raises a question: where is the boundary between "photoart" and purely "documentary photography"? IS there one?

For instance, some folk on here replace entire skies, imported from libraries presumably labelled "dramatic skyscapes", and yet they do not describe their pics as "photoart". They seem to have no problem with this, including many award winners. Are these people merely painting with light? What is the photographer communicating to us? Could it be construed as "dishonest", and if so, against what criteria? Does it matter whether a sky has been added, that colours don't look "natural" or "accurate"? I do not know. I must admit though that unless an image is qualified on here as "photoart" or "alternative process" I broadly agree with you that "documentary photography" - images of record if you will - should receive minimal PS "treatment". Whether cloning out power lines for example, or other subjectively objectionable elements in a capture amounts to "photoart" I am not sure, and I return to the issue of boundaries and definitions.

Kindest Regards,

Anthony

Very cool perspective and composition, Anthony! I especially like that the reflection is brighter than the rest of the shot! Well done!

It's always good to look back, especially if you liked the place. Beautiful countryside in the rearview mirror. In my case, that avocado green siding with the blue roof would have been a great attraction :) especially if it had video cams - Just kidding. Beautiful series, Ant.

Anthony Lound   {K:6586} 10/7/2005
You artist you.... :)

Fabio Ficola   {K:10466} 10/7/2005
I was puzzled by your image, but looking at it and reading the comment I realized your feelings are very similar to mine when I leave a pleasant place.

Great idea well realized, I'll look at the whole series to enjoy the beauty of the place.

Congrats. Fabio

Awe... all good things must I suppose come to an end Anthony, but afore ye go I feel I have to congatulate you on your very interesting study of Amish life, until next year as you say, safe journey home, and thank you.

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 10/7/2005
You wanna learn a new superstition from Romania, Ant? They say that if you're looking back, you will go back to that place again. I don't believe in superstitions, but I wish this one comes true for you :)

Anthony Lound   {K:6586} 10/8/2005
Sweet! TY Ina. I should love to visit Romania, esp Transylvania, one day. And I must admit, Bram Stoker is to blame for placing this idea in my mind. Have you got any images, esp landscapes, of your mother country? I should love to see them! Ant

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 10/8/2005
Hi Ant, I have a few, but they were made in a hurry, haphazardly, and are hardly representative of an entire country. Here's a typical rural scene with haystacks. Thanks for asking.

Oh my, this is lovely! I'm not entirely surprised though...

Anthony Lound   {K:6586} 10/8/2005
I am very touched Maureen, thank you for looking in :)
