She appears to me to have a look like, "what's going on?", maybe a little fear/confusion. Like it was Bath-time and now it's Bed-time, and she didn't want to get out of the tub....and doesn't undrstand why :)lol

Normaly I would say no to the shadows on her face and the messy hair but here I like it allot! Awesome eye focus! Excellent! Well done!

personally, i am a huge fan of these rich b+w tones and have been trying, with no luck, to produce them. (Couple days ago Carlos recently offered a suggestion that i really like).
the light on those piercing razor sharp eyes is excellent! lots of drama here. this one looks like a still from a movie.

thanks SheShe, she did come out of the bath tub but we allowed them to watch one episode of their favorite TV show while we were making dinner. Well my wife made dinner I took photos :)

I really like your B&W's. Do you shoot in colour mode and convert to B&W in Photoshop or do you use the in camera settings?

thanks Jan, I always shoot color and use the channel editor to convert to B&W. I tend to give the green channel the biggest strength, but I have no rule of thumb. I play around with the channels until it looks good for the photo I'm working on. Its usually different for each photo.

This is so different from you and I think I like it...very rich/dramatic! This new technique seems to handle the harsher light well. Just not really sure if I like it BETTER than your usual.....hmmmmmm.

It is a great shot, I like the drama, this one is better from the one I just left a comment on, but please, be a good editor and decide before You post

I love the contrast and your new style, David. In my humble opinion, this kind of BW tone and contrast give more powerful feels, and different from your usual soft sephia tone. It suits well with her expression...:) Very good effort, my friend. Congratulations!

I like this one better of the two. I can see you reaching for the camera when this light showed up (or she showed up in the light :-) New technique for b/w conversion? Looks good at any rate. I am partial to de-emphasizing the red channel to make lips a little darker sometimes.

thanks a lot Stefan. The red channel usually gives the least contrast on skin tones and it is also the noisiest channel (on my camera). So I give it less influence.

I really like the tone and texture. Is it a new technique in taking the photo, or a technique in editing the photo??

just editing Mel, but it works best with photos that have an interesting lighting. It doesn't work with very soft lighting.
