I think that is an excellent shot. I like the black and white and the perspective of the shot. very good the lights and the human presence with the movement.
best regards

well, if you really prefered this effect, this is a great title you choosed.. that would be also so nice if you've picked the shutter a little faster.. nice job

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/12/2005
Hi Ali,

the effect is done with intention. Anyway, the light was so weak that there was no other way to do the shot ;-)

best wishes and thanks for the feedback!

Thilo

Oh I love it-a ghostly figure parading down an empty alley way. Seems you have caught him just before he could disappear. Nice work~

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 10/12/2005
In my must humble opinion, this is the kind of shots that before viewing them, I know they are yours. They are mysterious and at a certain poing creepy... Love the spectral figure moving along the alley... Some times we walk in life as this.. In the obcure allies with an spectral movement... Thanks to Chrissie for such a motivation...

Excelent composition and great conversion to B&W... Great lighting...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

George Black   {K:101978} 10/12/2005
Wonderfully evocative. The blurred figure is great, but the ominous distortion of the buildings (that short lens, again!) creates a scene that would have pleased Arthur Conan Doyle.

Cheers,
--George

Me encanta, felicidades

Andre Denis   {K:55532} 10/12/2005
Excellent Thilo!
I always like the intentional motion blur. They appear to capture a little piece of life for just a little longer than a frozen still image. It is as you say an almost ghostly spiritual thing that is caught. (kind of an essence of what used to be there)
Or am I reading too much into it?
Nice dedication to Chrissie too.
Andre

Linda Bique   {K:73856} 10/13/2005
Hi Thilo, I recognized your work from the thumbnail, this is really nice, I like the perspective, and the ghost of the man walking into the frame. The motion blur works well to create anonymity while at the same time adding the human touch/scale to the image. The tones are perfect and the narrowing of the alley in the distance along with the darkness add a feeling of mystery, and a cold and kind of eerie feeling. A great image, and a wonderful dedication to Chrissie...congrats, and a hug...Linda

Kevin Collier   {K:19076} 10/13/2005
Thilo - yes a good influence for sure and one of your best - alone in the dark in a strange city - excellent!! wonderful blur!!

Bradley Prue   {K:30312} 10/13/2005
Not only a wonderful tribute... an outstanding photo! The vertical elements come together nicely here, and seem to converge in a drunken stagger, towards the innocuous lights. So much motion and mystery! Bravo, my friend..

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 10/13/2005
It looks like it is stretched vertically, maybe you can play with that?

NN     {K:26787} 10/13/2005
Hi Thilo ... such a lovely thing to say; "my eternal motivation"! :) Love the light, tones and mood here; a ghost in a narrow alley leading to ...? You are unbeatable at themes like this!

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/13/2005
Hi Stefan,

the extreme wide angle of the lens is an effect you have to get used to ;-)

but to be honest: I wanted to stress the canyon like street here. So I used the 10mm (besides that you can hold a long shutter with that focal length) =)

Thilo

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59796} 10/13/2005
Spiritual Thilo and so nice dedication!!!

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 10/17/2005
Superb night shot, stunning the super wide effect in this setting ! I would never have tried 1/2 sec handheld (must try your camera-over-the-belly technique !). Very imaginative and creative, superb photo !

Cheers

Carsten
