One word Ade - SPECTACULAR!!!! The way you have maintained detail in the foreground and yet not burned out the lights is magic and then to have the moon showing like that is pure genius. You are the MAN!
Hoping to get to comment on some of those I've missed lately over this weekend.
See ya.

welcome back bud - been a bit quiet on here this last few days, well with us UK bods anyway.

Seem to have had 3 good outings recently - one om my own on the east coast, one in the lakes with Alastair then the dales trip up Wharfdale. Each one's got me an award on EPZ, FINALLY gota BIP here too!!! though that shot got slated on the other site. Very different tastes between the 2, which is valuable cause it keeps you on your toes.

This was a tricky shot as you spotted. Again, it's RAW that allows these really - it was about a 3.5 second tripod exposure and the main thing that stood out ws the moon and that mill, just a faint detail in the wier.

You can "push" the limits a bit more in RAW to get hidden detail out - so the foregrond was pretty dark to begin with, but with a bit of curves and levels on the very dark bits (leaving the light bits well alone using a mask) you can get the detail out. In JPG mode you'd have got lots of "artifacts" and horrible little shapes glaring out at you making this kind of thing impossible.

Cheers for the coment though, really appreciate the odd vote of confidence :-)

And don't worry about commenting too much - now I get 3 shots up a day I'd not expect anyone to comment on all that many of them.
