Wonderful portrait Chris! Beautiful image of these two ladies and it's obvious that they are friend, a wonderful thank you!

Larry Quigley   {K:12884} 10/30/2005
This is a lovely informal portrait, Chris. I like your toning very much. It gives the picture a lot more warmth than color could. Best wishes and thanks for your generous comments on my Autumn meadow. I appreciate them. Larry.

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 10/30/2005
I love this Chris! The tones are wonderful and I can almost hear those two ladies talking...or, from the tilt of their heads, I think it might be called gossiping :) Well done!
Kathy

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 10/30/2005
Oh yes, this is lovely. 2 friends having a chat on a breezy day. This is going to be Kathy and I in about 20...no...15...no...10 years. :) It's getting close. This one made me smile Chris.

Danny Brannigan   {K:16126} 10/30/2005
Superb image Chris and it appears to be so typical of rural life. We have a saying here in Haltwhistle that a story "starts as a feather at one end of the street and is a matress by the time it reaches the far end of the street"
The picture is so sharp and well exposed and is helped by the overall toning which suits the subject to perfection.

Adriane Chernus   {K:877} 10/30/2005
Wonderful image!

In some ways. Chris, the UK is a better place to grow old in than Japan. There is more "respect" for the aged here, but less understanding of what they need and can enjoy in the way of social services and leisure activities. My mother, who came to Japan twice, at age 70 and 78, the second as part of a round-the-world trip, said "old people don't go out much!" (This from a lady who thought nothing of spending a weekend in Paris at the age of 80!) Your two elderly ladies here are obviously having a fine time. Well captured!! Excellent B&W.

Karina Brys   {K:16541} 10/31/2005

KEVIN TEMPLE   {K:7298} 10/31/2005
great image Chris.(can you come back to me with the info regarding (critique only) how does one get to just having that ?

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 10/31/2005
Sorry, Kev, I'm afraid I unintentionally misled. I thought the 'critique only' option was something you set once-and-for-all in your preferences, but it's not!

When you upload an image, you fill in lots of data, (title, about, colour/B&W, etc), and one of the options you're given each time is whether to allow ratings or not. If you unheck that box it will only given the option to leave a comment. Once you've done it once, it should remain as the default option until you change it again.

I hope this helps,

Chris

LeAnne Eden   {K:1408} 10/31/2005

NN     {K:26787} 10/31/2005
Such a lovely couple ... I?m pretty sure she is not showing her new diamond ring to her friend :) Love how the feet of the other woman don?t even reach the ground! Excellent tones and timing!

AJ Miller   {K:43691} 10/31/2005
Hi Chris! I realise I've been checking out your images for quite some time but never added you to my watch lists. I tend to use the Associates list rather than Friends list, so feel it is high time I added you to it.

It's a wonderful image you have captured here - so many details: the intent listening, the crossed hands, the hand on the hat, the pointing finger, the swinging feet.

AJ

Ozjan Yeshar   {K:18562} 10/31/2005
Great dramatic shot and fabulous sepia tone. Cheers Chris.

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 10/31/2005
I Chris I like here not only your precious tones for the sepia and the format which is a very suitable square framing the two ladies, what I love is the neat quality of the image and the complicity expression connecting them

Galal El Missary   {K:84090} 10/31/2005
