Image vividly illustrates how much water in Lake Mead has decresed significantly over the years. Water is a precious resource in the desert & nearby Las Vegas is one of the most rapidly growing cities in the US. The population grows every month as I speak, & the demand will obviously increase as a result. Aside from tapping the Colorado River to augment the demand, alot of rain & melting snow from the nearby Sierras needs to happen to keep up.

Excellent image Roland. It really does show how much the water has receded. Lake Powell also shows incredible water lines. I just love photos taken using slide film. The clarity is beautiful. You shot this one from a great angle. Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Roland,
A very well composed and powerful image. The decreased waterlevel is also well captured, which makes this not only a photographically appealing shot, but also a very good reportive image.
The tone, however, suggests an atmosphere within the image, as it's rather blue and dark. This diverts the attention from the message to a type of moody landscape photography, if you see what I mean. I'm not doubting the genuinity of the colours, though. Maybe if you had shot this photo at a different time of day, the feel and atmosphere within the photo could've been reduced.
As to the composition, the only thing that strikes me is that the spacing between the left edge and the two towers of the Hoover dam are almost equal. I think for the sace of the perspective that you've introduced in this image, changing the spacing between the edge and the utmost left tower would create a stronger feel for this perspective as well as a slightly more balanced composition. Weird, but this utterly unimportant thing grabs my attention....
When I flew over Lake Mead, the decreased waterlevels were also quite dominantly visible, but seeing it from this POV, it is even more apparent. Very good and interesting shot!
