About Not native to the UK, this is Jack, a rescued Harris' Hawk snapped at the Penrith Bird of Prey Centre, Cumbria UK. I visited the centre on the last day of my holiday and the weather was very poor, overcast grey. Shot at ISO 800, I had to manipulate this quite a lot in levels using several layers to get to this state. Lens was at 260mm. The centre is well worth a visit if you are ever in the region.

Perfect capture!

Super image Steve especially as you've captured the top of him, that's unusual. More often than not it's the underside that is viewed. Birds of Prey centres are terrific places aren't they. We visited one in the Cotswolds not long back.
Expect to see more from your visit.
Den
PS Thanks for your comment on the Bullfinch. I manged about 12 shots of this one which is only the second one I've ever seen.

Thanks Den,

Not many more worth posting from the Bird Centre unfortunately, it really was dreadfully dull weather! Good excuse to go back next year though.

I agree - fab places & worth supporting. Though the local rodents may disagree!

Regards,
Steve

Thanks Margaret. A couple of different layers involved, one for sharpening, one for levels then a bit of softening for the background.

Regards,
Steve.

what a excellent capture of the harris hawk, the timing is perfect I like the full wing spread, and the background really adds to the shot, excellent..
