Great profile! The image itself looks like it has a color cast to it. The white feathers look rather grey. I would recommend color correcting your file. You'd be surprised what a difference it can make. If color correction is new to you I have a write up on my web site that might help. BTW I really like your composition and timing to capture the eagles fierce expression.

Thanks Jim. There's no color cast, although the white point may be on the bluish side for some tastes. The white probably appears grayish because most of the white feathers are around RGB=215, but there are about 200 pixels with RGB=255 (and a contiunous distribution between 215 and 255), so I really don't want to clip any more pixels to brighten up the feathers. Any other suggestions?

I'm not saying to change the value of the highlights per se. I think a curves correction takes care of what i'm seeing. I bumped the shadows to be slightly darker and added a very mild s-curve to the RGB curve. Attached is the end result. I'll post a checker board version showing two corners of before and two corners of after shortly.

Here is the before and after version. The bottom left and upper right quadrants are the original. The upper left and bottom right are the adjusted areas. You'll see a line through the sky. The beak becomes a more vivid yellow and the shadow detail is reduced increasing contrast in the head and body feathers. You are correct reducing the blue cast can make a noticable difference but i did not implement that on these versions. The adjustment of the shadow settings and the s-curve allow for improved contrast. The end result is maintaining the value of the highlights but darkening portions of the image impacting how the highlights are interpreted by the viewer.

Thanks Dave. The eagle wasn't technically captive because it wasn't restrained in any way. But, it is kept by a falconer, and when it was kept by a prior falconer, it got mercury poisoning and can now only fly for short distances (like 100 meters).
