About It's a long time since I posted a 'lonely walk' shot, but it's still happening!! Carole patiently striding on as I stop to take my millionth shot, or change a battery!! I usually catch her up eventually but, this past Tuesday, I met some walkers coming the other way and said: "When I started this walk I had a wife!"

I hope you enjoy this wonderful scene that we eventually sat and admired together!

Best regards to all,

Chris

LOL now I know I am not alone. My wife is always walking off as I take out my camera. Beautiful scenery and inclusion of your wife adds to the scale and atmosphere of the scene.

Mervo     {K:8313} 11/17/2005
Beautiful shot Chris, there are many appealing features in this frame, the fence leading your way in, the curves on the beach and on the tops of the hills, your wife in the distance and of course the beautiful colours.

I like this a lot :)

Riny  Koopman   {K:19998} 11/17/2005

Graham .   {K:1813} 11/17/2005
It's a beautiful part of the country and I love the warmth of the light - unusual for England. The cliffs look magnificent......

Sergio M. Cameno   {K:7622} 11/17/2005
Hehehe! My girlfriend is a bit fed up because when we visit a place I can't stop shooting, so I understand you perfectly!
Great capture here, full of colour. The view is really impressive!
Many thanks for sharing!
Best regards!

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59778} 11/17/2005

Lovely blues and greens, nice warm light and a super lead-in by the fence - very appealing!

Pat Snelling Weiner   {K:1920} 11/17/2005
What a beautiful piece Chris! The shadows in the hills, atmostphere, lines in the landscape and fence, plus the blueish green recession of the hills is a painting in progress in my minds eye. If I were to paint it (selective editing) I would take out the fence on the right and the white buildings and put some sheep (maybe) on the hillside! And I understand perfectly .....my poor husband used to take newspapers on our jaunts, now he takes BOOKS :) I love your images Chris! Thanks for sharing! Pat

Roger Williams   {K:81877} 11/17/2005
My, Chris, once again you show what a beautiful part of the world you live in. Hard to imagine how this photo could be improved in any way... You really show it to us at its best, and because you live there, you can capture it on those days when the weather is kind, unlike the poor tourist who has to take the weather lottery.

Don Loseke   {K:32494} 11/17/2005
Chris, she is not a lady in waiting any more..
especially when you take so long to get the perfect shot... This is well planned, lighting placement of Carole and overall composition.

Nice one . Don.

Chris, I Love this shot...Straight into my fav's.

I know that Most of us who have someone in our lives who doesn't take pictures, has seen this First hand. My Fiance is always walking ahead looking around. She always finds me something to shoot, that I didn't see or wouldn't have seen. So I really love having her with me.

This shot is something I could see hanging up in a gallery somewhere. Well done my friend!

Best Regards

Sam III

stingRay .   {K:136763} 11/17/2005
Beautifully composed Chris the dof is incredible with so many crisply clear details. The colours are magnificent. Were you tempted to crop from the right and go square? Did you try it and then reject?
I make so many 'poor crop' decisions it's nice that I have the Margarets, Kathys and Anns etc to put me right. Best wishes to you Chris...Ray

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 11/17/2005

Haha, I know that 'lonely walking thing'....!!! When I was on Madeira I usually started in the front, after a few photo stops it was the in the middle I found myself again.... and then a couple of shots 'down the line' I was the one not only carrying a camera but also the red lantern.... LOL!!! Wonderful view/landscape... beautiful blues and greens, excellent composition... the fence starting in the corner is great... well captured!!!

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 11/17/2005

Britain, Britain, Britain

sure there are other palces in the world like this, but we've got more of them, and this is well lit, composed and the bloke makes it look a welcoming palce to go

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 11/19/2005
Carole said: "Tell him to put his glasses on! I am NOT amused!" )

I guess it is a little difficult to tell from that diustance, Ade, but I did call it 'The lonely walk of the photographer's wife'!

Still, thanks for the kind comments!!

Best regards, Chris

Ellen Smith   {K:14418} 11/20/2005
Your wife walking off alone helps to show how lonely this land is. Lonely is not always a bad thing. This is beautiful. I'm curious what are the parallel mounds for?
One day I'll get there and see this for myself.

Linda Bique   {K:73826} 11/21/2005
Hahahaha, funny about Chris, and what a spectacular vision you have, this is so beautiful, excellent composition, I love the diagonal of the fence as a lead-in, just a wonderful image, love it!

Richard Dakin   {K:12852} 11/21/2005
Absolutely superb composition, one of your best ever. As always accurate exposure, and fine post-capture work. Congrats Chris.
*** If you are having worries with battery life, you might consider adding a vertical grip to your D70's. I use one (from Harbortronics in the USA)which holds an additional battery, doubling the life of the camera between charges.

John Beavin   {K:4477} 11/23/2005
I often wondered what wives were for chris, I like the fence leading the eye into the scene, I don't quite know how you manage to post so many brilliant shots, would love to know how many you delete?

patrizio napolitano   {K:13119} 11/23/2005

I love the colors of this photo and the path that it goes down to the sea
patrizio

Maryam Ashoori   {K:2168} 12/1/2005
Very beautiful shot... Like a dreamland! specillay a painted dreamland ;)))

David Tasker   {K:4194} 12/6/2005
Hi Chris - I am guessing this must be late afternoon light. One way to counter the "Lonely Wife" syndrome is to buy "her" a camera. Of course you do run the risk og getting shown up - my wife ( Carol without the e )takes 2 or 3 shots to my "million" and always comes up with something wonderfully different. I will be in the UK for 2 weeks in March 06 - Snowdonia and the Lakes district are the attraction this trip - drop me a line if you wish - dtasker@netspace.net.au

marco "dheim" orciuoli   {K:4464} 12/27/2005
wonderful colors and definition!

Mary Brown   {K:67308} 12/31/2005
The scenery is fantastic. What a fabulous place for a walk. The colours and lighting are wonderful, as usual. I hope the New Year sees Carole and you having many enjoyable walks together through graet scenery and many joyous moments.
Mary
