About PS layered a vintage photo with my shot of a train car. There are no hidden meanings in this one, and no story. This one is different because I tried to create a false perspective. First, the girls in front are at a different scale from the train, actually much smaller than normal, less than half scale, but they still seem to be seated in front of the car. The third one at the back seems to be leaning on the post, but really she couldn't, because the post is much farther in front. And still, the third one is perched on what looks like a grille, but the grille is higher, so she's really standing on a shadow. I think it still looks OK, the eye picks up these anomalies and interprets them as "normal" perspective, due to the confusion created by the lines and shadows.

This is wonderful Ina. I'm not sure I'd have recognized this as a train, but they, or she, sure looks like she's waiting for one. The color combination is outstanding and the balance of it is perfect. It's just pure excellence!

Andrzej Pradzynski   {K:21408} 11/22/2005
Ina, with your latest images you are manifesting the art of the photography without even taking a part in the rhetorics trying to determine whether photography is an art at all. I fully support you in it.
In the era of digital capture and the whole suite of software processing tools the reality is getting as plastic as the plasticine and as flexed as it could be in artist hands. The one thing that is still required is one having an creative feel and/or a vein too sculpture very own artistic meaning of the forms and relations. I'm glad you're messaging the style.

Well, regarding the image you're presenting, the train multi-lined composition and a through exposure is great enough to stand on it's own, the insertions (and I'm not the one to decifer what is underminded) just move things fast forward to the arts new area.

With my great respect, n.j

Thanks Jezabel, what is "tutku tokol"? Is it your name, or a pseudonym?

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 11/22/2005
Thanks Endre, here I played with perspective, I just had a chance to explain it better in the "about." The perspective is totally incongruent :)

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 11/22/2005
Dear Andrzej, Thanks for your more than kind comment! I think in this kind of PS work in which I'm using a very powerful image (that of the girls) done by an unknown photographer of the past, I should take probably not even half of the credit. What would my picture be without the other's picture? Not nearly as interesting, whereas his (or her) picture stood the test of time, and still can stir emotions. I feel humbled by the comments, and yet I know I don't deserve them unless I could credit the other photographer - who's probably long gone... Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 11/22/2005

Bob Walker   {K:1066} 11/25/2005
I like what you've done with this one. I love, not only the shadows, but also the somewhat monochromatic color scheme - very appealing.

Best regards,
Bob

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 11/25/2005
Thanks Bob, this is the one of the grille shadows I was mentioning when I saw yours! Regards, Ina

György Szönyi   {K:8347} 11/26/2005
Very tricky optical work Ina, and is most effective. I take your advise and will not look for hidden meaning in it, just enjoy the false perspective. It is interesting, however, how you proliferate your vintage girls who populate your pics. Now I must jump on and see the rest of your recent uploads. Warm regards, Gyuri
