About Japan has a very strong "cartoon" culture, and one popular long-running series featured a group of ghosts and monsters. The one-eyed boy standing at the entrance is one of these, and the teashop has taken his name. And as for wny there is an enormous pair of sandals on the roof? No-one I asked has been able to tell me.

The contrast are vey well done and the detail in the dark area is nice as well. Regards, Rob.

Thanks Rob. I notice you often comment on my photos when they have very few other comments... I really appreciate that! I did take quite a bit of care with this one to get the very wide range of contrasts covered in the final result without losing all the "sparkle" (as often happens if you just reduce contrast). I'm glad someone appreciated this as I'm rather proud of the result... Weird picture, though, with those enormous wooden sandals!

Very nice, Roger. I enjoyed your fisheye season, but happy to see straight lines back in your work. Great contrast work. This is an outstanding curious shot with lots of stuff going on. I like that!

Yes, Gary. the fisheye perspective quickly tires, although I often find it is the only way of capturing all I want to include in a shot. Strict rectangularity is the other choice... Glad you liked this one, it's one of my own rather neglected favourites.

Quite a finding this one! You are very good at finding unique sights! Love all the details, the tiles on the roof and the huge pair of getta.I do not parake of the "manga culture", but the shop entrance looks rather queer, possibly it was meant to be so.A very good capture!
