Great shot - colors and details are super. Like the capture - wings are up and the shutter speed was just right to capture details there and still show the blur - which gives a good indication of how fast those wings flap. Really like the DOF - sets this little guy off perfectly and do like the way you finished the shot with the ragged outer "non-border." Works really well with this shot as the movement in the "border" mimics the rapid movement of those tiny wings. Yes, they are small - but the bigger challenge is that they also move like lightening! Wonderful action shot here Don. Wonderful control of timing. Great blur movement in the wings. By the sounds of your technical info you must have been expecting him to show up. Excellent DOF. A lovely moment captured....or should I say split second. A beautiful image to be proud of in your collection.

Ab fab shot!! Wow what a great catch!!! Superb colors, details, DOF and composition... well captured!!! The only little remark I have... I personally find the frame a bit 'much'/distracting... but hey you can't argue about taste... ;-D!!!

We have a feeder out on the patio and this fellow keeps coming in and out getting a drink and protecting his area from others. He had been drinking and I just stood there while he came around I was about 6 to 7 feet from him as that was all the closer the lens would focus. Thanks for the wonderful comments. Don.

They are so fun to watch! I have never seen them this color. We only have the ruby throated hummers in TN. The action of the wings is very nice.
