About A frosty dawn last Sunday at The Grange in Hampshire, England. The white cottage at the end of the stream was a nice focal point and the owners kindly fired up their central heating just as I took this shot which created a nice plume of steam. It's a bit difficult to see the details at this size but the autumn colours are nicely muted by the frost and low dawn glow. I used the willow branches in the foreground to balance the image and improve the apparent depth. I needed a three stop soft ND grad to keep the sky within the latitude of the film and an 81B to help keep the colours right.

Wonderful frost atmosphere and sky reflections too!!!!
In digital time we can't see anymore shot like this!!!!
You have balanced very well exposure in my honest opinion, and it did not have to be easy, speaking in analog terms(and above all with Velvia film......).
Well done,best.

A stunning image Barry. The stream draws me into the scene and takes me to the house. The plume of steam emitting from the house is sweet and the clarity ihere is so wonderful to allow for such details. The tree is a grand focal point and the branches makes lovely frame for the foreground. The lighting has allowed for gorgeous soft colours. You've put a lot of thought into this shot and it's paid off well with a beautiful image. A pleasure to view.

Cheers - Ann :)

Lovely mood, congrats!

Beautiful composition and colors. You inspire and challenge me to give more thought to my photographs as I take them. I confess that when I'm able to get out to take photographs I sometimes get excited by the possibilities and react without thinking the matter through. Please keep sharing not only your photographs but how you take them. Thanks, Rodney

Deliciously cold and yet inviting image, Barry.
Wonderful quality as always.
Best regards, Chris

Superb composition and in-camera work. The only thing I would try out with the slide is another scan, with lighter tones, for a composite with a bit dodging selectively for the branches and foliage of the tree (because the distant trees show nice detail in the shadows, too)

Cheers

Carsten
