Toshi    {K:11924} 11/30/2005
Nice urban shot and great angle for movement. Good choice to leave it in color as the yellow adds to the image. Excellent!

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 11/30/2005
I think you made an excellent choice, Jeanette - the yellow lines add a wonderful dimension to this photo! It looks like these stairs go down forever! :)

cessy karina   {K:14205} 11/30/2005
wowhoo.. great angle and composition
felt like I jump, falling
excellent decision not to convert to BW :)

Kes     {K:19764} 11/30/2005
Oh be careful...people have been known to disappear into these things...never to be seen again!

The light lines, handrail lines, and diminishing reflections definitely give a sense of "deep" here!

Michele Berti   {K:14921} 11/30/2005
the usual unconfutable style! another great one Jaenette. take care

ISMAEL MARCOS   {K:10283} 11/30/2005
yellow lines... of course...
you've done very well, i think...

isma.

by the way , which camere do you own???

Michael Kanemoto   {K:22106} 11/30/2005
No conversion necessary. What posesses you to see these shots?

If you want the yellows to pop a little more, you may have to adjust the saturation, but I like the feel of this shot just the way it is.

Tony Smallman   {K:18703} 11/30/2005
Great eye you have, fantastic perspective and yes ,the yellow lines do make a difference in such a cold, metallic shot.Great work and into my favourites!
Cheers,Tony

Roberto Carli   {K:13689} 11/30/2005

Paolo Corradini   {K:58214} 11/30/2005

Step no farther usefilm members. I do not have Jeanette's foresight, but surely I have a little farsight. I tried to copy this image so many times but I just could not. It was not my fault. Suddenly all elevators in my city started moving....

WOW - Impressive Light and perspective.

turning the image of 180 degree there's some people walkin on the floor

Thilo Bayer   {K:50355} 11/30/2005
Hi Jeanette,

you may have desaturated the image selectively as I think it's a good idea to keep the yellow lines in here ;-)

nice perspective, the tilt is great and so are the lines that go to the horizon.

best wishes,
Thilo

Gorilla  K   {K:17526} 11/30/2005

Petal Wijnen   {K:50950} 11/30/2005
Good choice (not to convert it that is) and it's almost a B&W as it is right now... ;-D!!! BTW I thought I told you that I suffer from vertigo... so I'm holding on to my seat whilst typing this comment..... aaaaaaaaaaaargh.... I had another look at it... Great perspective, excellent composition.... well spotted!!! Like those 'light lines' and their reflection in the escalator side... cool shot!!!
BTW a belated but well meant birthday greeting... a little greek bird told me... LOL!!!

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 11/30/2005
Hahahaha - people get so scared when they see someone standing in a crazy pose to shot images, and frankly they are not sure about WHAT i?m doing.... so they just stood in a queue after me :)) Funny! LOL!!!!

Hugs,
Jeanette

Excelente composición y perspectiva.
Felicitaciones!

Mark Wlaz   {K:4558} 12/1/2005
Wonderful capture in difficult conditions.
In another place and time, men would descend into small shafts, on their way to work in the bottom of mines, around the world. Today, the modern worker decsends into a different type of shaft, in order to get to work each day.
This is what I think of, in viewing your image.
Nicely done.
Mark

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 12/1/2005
Yahhhhhh! This is what I remember as a kid, looking down the escalator, and at the bottom is the toy department! Thanks for reminding me.

Reda Danaf   {K:11909} 12/1/2005
Great perspective well captured, agree about the yellow lines.

Fabio Ficola   {K:10466} 12/1/2005

Mark

Derek Dixon   {K:4948} 12/1/2005
excellent shot! like the composition a lot.
I would always keep the colour for this -even if the yellow lines weren't there - the metallic tones are awesome.

Cesare Baggiani   {K:1509} 12/1/2005
Janette, I dont know how comment your photo!!! I had to do copy and paste with "Great" for all your photo!!!!!
I appreciate the decision to keep the color version....the yellow lines are important.

Bye

Sergio M. Cameno   {K:7826} 12/1/2005
Happy birthday with delay!!!
A really amazing shot. You couldn't have taken it from a better angle. The sense of depth is really impressive.
Excellent indeed!!
Best regards!

P LL   {K:30851} 12/1/2005
I agree with you!
This shot would not have made the same effect in B&W.
Good deep effect!

Paola LL

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 12/1/2005
I went to the police station and told them that there was a .... ha no! It was during an hour when people are in their office or at home.... but in the reflection at the roof you see people are coming up in the parallell escalator!

Jeanette

r u t h  d r io   {K:4336} 12/1/2005
Hey Jeannete, three years ago i travelled to Stockholm, and i was really afraid to take the subway stairs, caused by my vertigo, i took this blurry photo there, it?s funny, it could be the same place, i don?t know..:) regards!!

Mark Sherman   {K:15637} 12/1/2005
After seeing the movie Kontroll this has a new found meaning.

Carsten Ranke   {K:14461} 12/1/2005
Very artistic choice of camera point and perspective, as always ;-) I like the off-center vanishing point, and the converging curves. The yellow is indeed an important stylistic element here.

Cheers

Carsten

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 12/1/2005
Not a place for somebody with a fear of heights. Would a single person down there be a good thing?

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 12/1/2005
HI Ruth! No this is not the same place. I guess this one are taken at Kungsträdgården, the blue line has deep tunnels. Yes, even me feels alittle vertigo of this shot of yours. Mine is taken at Medborgarplatsen on Söder. I don?t remember which exit though. You must be very brave, that even though take a shot like that!

Jeanette

m.c. lopez   {K:14766} 12/1/2005

Bello scatto.
Ciao.

Joggie van Staden   {K:41676} 12/2/2005
An excellent shot taken at the perfect angle Jeanette. I noticed the reflection of two persons - yet cannot see them - make the image even more interesting. Great work!
Joggie

luis pereira   {K:22552} 12/4/2005
The fact that you tilted the photo added to the image. It makes it look steeper and I think you did the right thing by keeping the color.

alberto baez duarte   {K:8130} 12/6/2005
Real deep...excellent perspective ...I imagine this is in the Metro in Stockholm...is it..?? great city and country I visited some time ago....love to go back again.
congratulations for the picture and the city and country..!!!

v i k t o r h u g o   {K:562} 12/7/2005
Hola Jeanette, me encantaq esta foto tuya. Es una composicion perfecta. felicidades.

Lalage     {K:2412} 12/8/2005
Fabulous perspective!!! The yellow is beautiful there, too.

Nandor Lang   {K:1257} 12/19/2005
Iteresting perspective. Vertigo!!!

Massimo C.   {K:1073} 12/22/2005
So simple... such a common subject...
but so perfectly balanced and interesting!
I think this is a very difficult result to achieve.

...not for u, obviously :)

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 12/22/2005
Hi Jeanette, generally speaking, it's not easy to shoot something as "common" as this escalator. And image quality wise, I can see a few glitches, such as the slight over exposure in the steps (which I think you tried to dodge) but the angle and the feeling of depth makes up for it. In that essence, it's an awesome shot; very good point of view, staying away from the symmetry and all, without loosing the feel for the height because of the converging lines in the image. Very well done.

Cheers,

Hugo

xxx xxx   {K:-568} 12/25/2005
nice serie of arquitecture particulars, nice compositions

Paulo Martel   {K:2550} 12/28/2005
This is a great picture - the kind of thing you see everyday, but shot in a very nice angle. I also agree about keeping the yellow lines, they add a very nice touch to the picture.

Regards,
Paulo

osvaldo rima   {K:6862} 12/29/2005

Clear and pure beautiful, incredible photo. Thanks for sharing it whit us.

Patrick Cowley   {K:2095} 1/2/2006
you never cease to amaze me...was this taken at the sj station?

György Szönyi   {K:9794} 1/5/2006
Excellent capture, Jeanette, the yellow is really important. One rarely sees the excalator from this particular perspective and without people. Greetings: György

Roger Williams   {K:84100} 1/6/2006
I see you have a fascination with geometrical forms and perspectives, particularly in buildings. Your kind comment on the Tokyo "eye" encouraged me to visit your portfolio, which I find fascinating. Your vision is much more selective than mine... you encourage me to look around me with new interest. Thank you!

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 1/7/2006
Thanks Roger for looking into my portfolio. I think i change my way of working along the way.... before i did a lot of portraits and of course abstracts, but i find architecture more and more interesting!

Jeanette

Kemal Kekeva   {K:3958} 1/9/2006
excellent way of showing depth
Best regards

Tom Vernon   {K:384} 1/14/2006
Jeanette,

I wouldn't think something as simple as an escalator could be so interesting. However, you have an uncanny ability to bring the most mundane of the everyday world into a view that really puts a new perspective on it.

I love all of your work. I find it utterly amazing that you're able to let your eye see these things so easily. How are you able to train yourself to see in such a way. It's truly remarkable. I wish you could show us how you do it.

Best Regards!

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 1/15/2006
Many thanks Tom - you made my day If you ever visit Sweden, send me a message and ishall show you sthlm and we can take shots together ;))

Jeanette

Mani Mobini   {K:1073} 1/18/2006
I like this image alot Jeanette

its a very unusual vision

by the way, I just posted another version of the image u commented on. The first one looked good on my computer but when i posted it it became noisy. the new one still has some noise in it. how do I get rid of it?

thank you

Trent Gulbrandsen   {K:883} 3/1/2006
