I would love to have any input from the talent here at UF on my new site. It is still in the works, but the majority of it's done.
www.OceanDreamPhotography.com
Checkout CkikPic.com - they are the great host company. They are based in the UK, but offer a great service w/ paypal so you can sell prints, and have the money deposited directly into your checking account. (no, I don't work for them - but I do reccommend it to others looking for an easy way to sell their photos online commission free)
Thanks, Chris

Ive been looking for something like this for a while now...but i dont know how it would work since it is UK based. What i mean is this... when someone orders prints..do YOU get them done and send them out? or does the hosting company do it?(like snapfish.com etc..)
If the hosting company does it, it means that all my clients being in canada and usa, would have to have them shipped from uk...which would cost quite a bit...
I really like the paypal thing though, i use that a lot already with ebay, this would be so convenient! I looked at your site, wow.Your pictures are amazing! Have you had anyone purchase any of your photos yet from this site?
Thanks for sharing! If you have anymore info on clickpic please let me know!
Best of luck to you with your site!
CorrieLynn

Great job on the site Chris.
Your site is set up very nicely, and very easy to browse and explore. Two things I really like are first: the site loads nice and fast, and second: paypal functionality.
I agree with CorriLynn, your pictures are amazing, keep up the good work!
Gary.

Hi Corrie, thanks for the positive feedback. Clikpic is really pretty well thoughtout to work in any part of the world.
You set your prices so as to include the anticapited cost of shipping + your profit, and then when you sell a print, the buyer's information and amount deposited is e-mailed to you along w/ the name of the image sold. You then send the digital file off to your online photofinisher of choice, who in turn mails it directly to the buyer.
Of course, you could also make traditional prints, or homemade ink-jet/dyesub prints, and mail them yourself. I would just make clear what sort of print you are providing.
The bottom line is that the money goes from the buyer directly to your checking account via paypal. You then must fufill the agreement as per your website, and either have an online digilab or your own print mailed out to the buyer. So this would certainly work with any sort of output - film or digital based, and anywhere in the world. If you planning to sell and ship photos internationally I would probably put a clause on the pricing page to the effect of: "Int. shipings will require a 15% increase, or buyer pays for shipping" etc.
If you (or anyone else) do end up buying a site through them, PLEASE mention that you found out about it through me and usefilm.
Thanks,
Chris Hunter Portsmouth, RI OceanDreamPhotography.com

Thanks Gary, it was really easy to build the site - I know a minor amount of HTML, and was able to put it to use to squeeze a little more style from their templates.
Corrie, I forget - I have just had the site up for about 2 days now. I plan to have someone I know purchase a print in the next couple of days, just so I know what the time frame is from PayPal to deposit into my checking account, and make sure the transaction goes smoothly before I really start directing traffic there.

Ok, so clickpics arnt actually online photo developers themselves...i get it. No, i wouldnt sell the inkjet printer photos...i just have a local professional photo lab that is really good, so i'd get them done there and send them out myself i think. Thanks for clarifying that! Yes, i think i will probably join, because so far this seems to be the best site like this ive seen yet. Simple, uncluttered, yet professional, and EASY. I'll probably join later in the summer, thanks so much for pointing it out. I'll be sure to mention your name;)

Hi Chris,
I think it's a beautiful site. The only suggestion I have is that unless you're planning to sell other photographer's work on your site, to remove your name from each of the image subset. (Displayed in the Collection tab under "Location.") Instead of doing that, you may want to consider autographing your name just below the tab's title.
Keep up the good work.
